    Default Stop The Profile Switch

I have a problem with Acad 3D (vanilla) switching back from the profile I created...

I select a profile and when I re-open or just open another drawing 3d changes the profile back to the standard profile...

We were told that we don't need vanilla autocad because Civil 3D can be used as vanilla but that isn't the case...

Any or all help would be welcome...

    Thanks

I can honestly say I don't understand your post.

You most definitely can use Civil 3D as plain Autocad, but you might have some problems with some third-party applications, if you are trying to use any.

Opening a drawing does not affect the Profile. As long as you open the drawing from within Autocad/Civil3D, there is no way that opening a drawing can change your Profile.

Or are you doing the usual when people have this problem, and trying to open drawings by double-clicking on them in Windows Explorer?

This would cause it to use the last known profile and workspace. You can make shortcuts on your desktop (should have installed with them) to have one open as C3D and one in the AutoCAD workspace. If you want other names profiles and workspaces you can add switches to your shortcut targets.

check your shortcut, it tells autocad what profile to use
    example

    "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009\AecBase.dbx" /p "<<Unnamed Profile>>"

it loads with the unnamed profile
