    Default Spaceball 'jitter'

    Hello all,

I'm using Navis with a spaceball but am seeing really poor performance. motion is jittery and jumpy and it seems that Navis only accepts one translation axis at a time resulting in 'stepped' motion. Motion scaling is also behaving rather strangely, sometimes very fast and sometimes very slow.
I use the same hardware & driver for other 3D apps without problems so this is more of a software issue.

Anyone else experience this & have tips for how to improve?

    Thanks

I have been using a 3Dconnexion Space Navigator and it works great. I hate when I have to go back to navigating with a mouse. The only problem I've had is recording a real-time animation. When I record with the space navigator it adds dozens of redundant frames per second, meaning that when played back a 10 second animation is stretched to over a minute.

...and you are not seeing the scene 'jump' or the device input axises only interpolating one at a time (creating a sort of jagged stepped motion)?

I use the Space Navigator and noticed it was a little jumpy at first, but my video card is not great either. Under Global Settings>Interface>SpaceBall I slowed the translation and rotation settings. Now the action is smooth and precise. You might check your video settings, also if you have Guarantee Frame Rate turned off, the navigation can be jumpy.

Scaling the translation made a big difference. Thanks!
