    Default Layer keys for Devices

Under style manager within the key tab, it lists the Layer keys and what layer they come in on. What I'm trying to do is for example set it up so that if I insert a duplex receptacle device that it comes in on a "specified layer." Where can I edit the actual layer keys, like the "DEVICE" key so I know what objects are associated with that?

    Hi dcanfield,

There are several places you can do this.

If you right click a device on a palette you can select properties and add a layer key there.

If you want to change the layer key globally open the source drawing for the device. Go to FORMAT - Style Manager - Electrical Objects - Device Styles and select the device you want to change. Then click on the Design Rules tab and change the layer Key.

The last thing you could do is go to the Layer Manager (FORMAT - Style Manager - Multi-Purpose Objects - Layer Key Styles is one way to get there) click on the layer key you want to change and edit the Layer name, color, etc. or you can add your own layer keys.

    Hope this helps.
