    At least I can now dimension the thing and give it to the head bangers...

    Just can not figure out why the normal method isn't working though?

    We dimension in #paperspace and improtant setting is DIMASSOC=2

    Ohhh yes that must be it! Unfortunately for me that just doesn't work, as I use xrefs extensively ... with associative dims you get unexpected results when dimensioning to linework inside an xref. I've often found, opening the drawing the following day, that a dim seems to jump to different lines at random.

    For the above reason, I always have DIMASSOC=1.
