Default Border appears at wrong scale

    Hi
I have a strange problem when using AutoCAD 2006.
I am trying to insert a border either copy and paste or via insert. The border which is from another drawing is an ISO A1 border which measures correctly in the original drawing. However when I try and bring it into the new drawing it appears as though it is an AO size drawing border, nothing else changes. I am bringing it into paper layout space from paper layout space.

This is a rather urgent problem so any help you can give would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Neil Cheshire

A few possibilities that jump to mind:
    • The TB is a dynamic block with width / height parameters which for some reason doesn't get copied into the new drawing.
    • The TB is already defined in the new drawing as an A0 size TB.
In both cases try renaming the block to something else (either old DWG / new DWG) before performing the copy.

If it's not an exact A0 TB, check if there's maybe a UNITS difference between the drawings. Type the UNITS command and ensure both drawings have the same Insertion Scale.

    Hi

Units seem to be okay. I have taken the border from the original drawing and out it into a blank drawing. When I did this the drawing border was the correct size. I saved the drawing and then tried to insert this into the drawing I was trying to insert the border originally. The border again appeared at A0 size??

    Any further ideas?

    Regards
    Neil

    Hi

Think I solved it. After I inserted the border into the new blank drawing I exploded the border and then saved the drawing as a dwg file. Then I inserted this into the drawing as before and it was the same size.

    Hopefully that is it.

Will be back if there is and further problems.

    Regards
    Neil

The next time this happens, check out IRNEB's suggestion that a block is already defined with the same name. Run Purge and see if the block name is listed.
