    Unhappy Navigation tools

I just open a dwf in navis and my nav tools are not working properly. This is more than likely just a coincdence that it happened with the dwf. I had no trouble earlier this morning navigating within my nwc. Wondering if some defaults could have been changed or if there is another way for me to reset the nav fucntions. Example. when I try to walk forward by holding down the left mouse key it moves me up in the model. When I try to move up and down by holding down the center wheel it moves me forward as if I asked to walk. This is very frustrating.

The problem is how the dwf is brought into Navisworks. For some reason it is always rotated in some strange direction. I've run into this problem in the past as well with .dwf files. Following these steps worked for me:

    -Select file in selection tree
    -Right click--file units and transform
    -Rotate 90 degrees
-The three fields below represent x,y,z. Enter a 1 in the first field and zeros in the rest...it should fix it for you.

If this doesn't work just play around with this dialog until you get it

Thanks, but i was Unsuccesful with this. I reset the rotation to 90 degrees and the first first box to one with the others set to 0. I also tried some different rotations but nothing. Any other suggestions, maybe someone from Autodesk has a solution?

Would you mind posting your dwf or e-mailing it to me? Send me a private message and I'll get you my e-mail.

The above solution should work, but you may need to first open a model with the correct axis, then append the dwf, then rotate it.

Try the 'file options' in TOOLS > FILE OPTIONS > ORIENTATION
I am viewing a dwf from inventor which has the y axis as up, and my navigation is working.
    I have up > x=0, y-1, z=0 and north > x=0, y=0, z=-1

The easiest and sometimes the only way to work with these rotated axis files is to rotate the model before it is exported to dwf format.

I did some rather extensive testing. It does not matter where the dwf came from--Autocad, Autocad MEP, ADT (Autocad Architecture), Revit (any flavor)...the dwf file dataset is always turned sideways. This is an issue the DWF team needs to fix.

That is right, we have the same problem with Synchro...dwf files have to be rotated 90 around the x axis.
