I've been asked this a few times by AutoCAD users...
Is there a 'Repeat previous tool/action' shortcut in Revit?
Is there a way of adding one?
Thanks

It may be possible via API, but I haven't the first idea how to do that. Check in the API forum or maybe make a post if your search doesn't give what you're looking for.
Yea - I'm too scared to venture into the API just yet...
I keep seeing Jeremy Tammik's blog in tenlinks and being made to feel incredibly dumb : |
I'll get searching!
To my knowledge, Revit doesn't have a "Repeat Previous" function.
However, there is a "Create Similar" function that is similar in regards to modeling. Select an element, type the shortcut (CS), and then you will start creating a similar element with mostly matching instance parameters.
It only covers modeling tools, not editing tools. So it's certainly not as over arching as "Repeat Previous."
Can you expand on your reply? I am sure that there are many people wanting to know the answer.....
Also I heard from a friend that knows a girl who is married to someone who knows someone that knows a thing or two about Revit said that the 2010 version will allow you to do macros for repeating commands..........I myself have never been a beta tester and have yet to see it but I like the idea.
ok that was a bad joke! I admit........
Actually incomplete too....I intended to say "Yes there is....fire the autocad guys"....
****!! that is really a bad joke.....
The 2010 version does have an improved macro facility... But I have never written or even used a macro... so I've no idea of what functionality it is or how helpful it is!
Any API geniuses/genii about?
One would think that there might be a way to access journal files for the purpose of repeating a previous command in an API add-on. Again, I have no programming experience at ALL so I have no idea how it would work or if it's possible.
