Default Drawings taking to long to send to 1050C plus plotter

    Hi

Fisrt of all I am running vanilla acad2009 with windows vista printing to a HPDesignJet 1050C plus on a network. Last year everone here went through my computer to plot. Then I got a new computer & my old computer went to whoever had the oldest computer. So now we plot through his computer through the network. The problem now is when I hit the print command I wait for about 20-120 seconds for thr print box to open. Then when I hit preview or print it takes up to 2 mins. for any action. This is killing me. It used to be click click. Also I do the bulk of the plotting so on big jobs this time consuming. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds like it is looking for something, have you tired procmon to determine what files may be missing that it is looking for? it seemed like at our office when we had a similar problem, that the "create new plotter wizard" shortcut was linking to a location that was not correct. We changed the link path, and speed improved significantly.

Does the plot dialog only slow down for AutoCAD? Or does it give the same results if you print say a PDF from Acrobat (clicking the Properties button)?

If the former ... what the other guys said.

If the later, then you may have a network problem. Or a driver needs to be updated. Or (seeing this is a new PC) are you on Vista? It has some issues with printing to older printers on network.

Got a similar problem with a Océ CS2044 (it's actually a Canon Prograph 8000 with an Océ badge). Takes ages for AC (or any other prog) to open its properties. The B/W TDS600 doesn't work at all with Vista (only with XP) ... and network needs to be something other than Win2008 server as it uses WinNT for it's spool driver (M$ can't talk to M$, but Linux can ... go figure!). The only way we can get this to work on a M$ network, is to use the HDI driver in AutoCAD and send the print directly to the printer's IP address (bypassing any windows spooling).

For our smaller prints we have a Konica Minolta C451 photostat machine (IP on network) ... same thing happens there as with the Canon ... but its little sister (Konica 250) works smoothly. Problems don't happen on XP machines, only Vista.
