Importing shp files with object data

In past versions I have been able to import shp files with object data on them where the object data table name and drawing layer was the same as the shp file name. Now in 2009, when I use mapimport command it appends 'Default_' to the beginning of the Darwing Layer and Object Data table name and cuts off the end of the original name (i.e. 'communicationscable_ohp' is now 'Default_communicationscab'). Does anyone know if there's a system variable to change or any other method to fix this?

There is no variable that controls that, it's a know issue that has been reported to the developers for a while. You have to manually type in the name of the tables during the import and rename the layer after the import.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if this is something they have fixed in 2010?

From what I have seen the OD Table name is still prefixed with Default_ in the early builds of 2010. We can only wait on the final build to see what it does.
