    Default AutoCad model cache

There seems to be some sort cache that's created from models in a drawing file. This also can get corrupted on occasion I've found (lines and edges get all messed up). Is there a way to forcibly delete and recreate this cache without copy/pasting the data to a new dwg file?

EDIT: this seems to be associated with visual styles.. I've actually opened new drawings, only to have a ghost model loaded in memory from my previous session.

I've never seen that. Could it be a graphics card/driver problem?

Interesting thought.. I've seen it both on Quadro and Geforce systems, but it may could be caused on a Geforce system (and then later opened on a Quadro). I'll have to check around. It's seems bad that a video card would corrupt a dwg file in some way.

There are also some rumblings I've seen on extra face information being created when an object is brought in from another drawing. I'll keep looking..

Purge/indexctl=0/recover doesn't do anything, if that's what you mean.

I currently don't have a bad file per say, I'm just putting my feelers out for more info on this cache system. I also find that refresh, in visual styles, is nearly worthless. and that a fast zoom out and in does much more to correct the model. (this may indeed be driver related, as I'm using a 8800 GTS, and not a Quadro) Though my workmate has a Quadro and it's equally sketchy with this stuff, just in slightly different ways visually.

Hmmm. Mine's the reverse. 8800GTS with no problems except a blank screen when trying to zoom in 3dorbit.
Do a search for Riva Tuner - because of Riva Tuner my 8800GTS now thinks it's a Quadro FX4600 and the problem has gone away.

Mine is the G92 8800 GTS, not the one before it. I don't think I can fool the G92 chip from what I've read. I do have an older one boxed up at home. Would you recommend the swap to the slightly older card to get Quadro-esque functionality?

I honestly don't know about the G92 chip but I think I would give the old one a try.

Small update... AutoCad 2010 arrived, I'm going to wait until it's installed to see if it's any better. They have different driver comments on AutoDesk's website, so hopefully something has been fixed.

I installed the 2010 demo.. waiting for management and IT is too painful.

They have a new driver, something called acaddm10.hdi, as well as a DirectX variant. And it appears to force off anti-aliasing. I can't even get the driver control panel to override it. I guess this is AutoCad's latest, "you need to buy a Quadro card to enable 10 year old technology". These guys can be such severe s***heads it's mind boggling.

I'm going to poke around at bit more, maybe I'm overlooking something.
