    Default Text Styles

I'm trying to go through our standards and templates and streamline them some and have come across a bunch of repetitive text styles that i cant delete since they are in use somewhere but i cant figure out where. is there a tool somemplace to list where they are all used so i can adjust them? the styles in question are all basically the same style, they have all just been pulled in from various places over time and have different names.

    thanks

Quick select may do the trick.

i looked at that but it doesnt work on objects that arent in the model or layout space.

i did some googling and came up with the following:

    http://www.texupport.net/cadinfo/det...xt-styles.html

it works pretty well and functions in the same manner as laymrg - but it provides a menu box to select styles to merge.

Check for dimension styles or style overrides which may use the text styles in question. Also try the ATTDISP command to find blocks with only invisible attributes. You could check for text/mtext with no characters/spaces only "", " ", etc. Refediting blocks in the drawing can show nested blocks, which may be another source of rogue styles.

Sometimes you have text object with no content. I would set QTEXT to ON to see if there are other stuff you missed. If this didn't work, I would use the ERASE>ALL.

You could iterate the drawing database with code, but if you are looking for a pre-built utility to purge these textstyles, take a look at SuperPurge from www.manusoft.com
