    Red face Sloped Roof Purlins

I am working on a project for that has laminated wood arched beams with sloped roof purlins. I cannot get or figure out how to get the purlins to slope to the roof. (See attached photos). I have created a work plane that follows the slope of the roof, but have not been able to get the purlins to rotate.

    Any suggestions?

Create a roof that is only the sheathing and exterior material (shingles, etc). Then in a ceiling plan view, set the work plane to one side of the roof, and place all those purlins. Then set the work plane to the other side of the roof and place all those purlins.

This is how I always show sloped roof structure.

Please forgive me, but I read your reply to my question, but I am still unclear on how to get the actual purlins to rotate to the slope of the roof (which is the top of the laminated beam). Why does the roof structure itself have to been put in place prior to the roof purlins?

    Thanks!

The family you are using for the purlin is probably defined to always be vertical. You may need to create a new family that allows the item to be perpendicular to the reference plane.
