    Default Architectural Column Schedule

    hi all.

have a colleague (Revit Newbie) who built a timber framed building using a combination of in-place families and generic model families to create the various framing components. for example: the purlins for this framing assembly are "in-place" families that were categorized as columns (architectural) and then copied dozens of times. for all intents and purposes, she is refering to these as "beams", and now would like to schedule them.

However, I do not see a schedule category for columns - only structural ones. So, how can we accomplish this? I have a hunch it is a multi-category type, but I still do not see how to add the columns families into my fields for selection. Nor do I see a way to list generic models (which are used extensively for a variety of Truss-like assemblies), which is desirable at least to be able to count them, and locate them by room. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

NOTE: I cannot help but think I may be putting the cart before the horse on this problem, but on the other hand I have to admit my scheduling experience is limited, and spotty at best.

I don't believe there is any method to schedule "in-place" families at all, but I've been wrong before.

ahh, yes. I knew that. I got caught up in the whole columns -as-beams-idea that I forgot about that aspect of the problem.

About a year ago I sent Autodesk a request that the ability to schedule architectural columns had been overlooked and asked that they fix it so we could. Maybe in 2020.

Red face Re: Architectural Column Schedule

i faced the same problem a week ago after placing conceptual architectural columns in the whole project i couldn;t schedule them, yet my boss told me that the only way is to place a structural column inside the architectural one and schedule them
Presonaly i don't like this method but maybe you do!!!
