    Default Memory Error

    Hi all

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this issue. I performed an export from Revit MEP to GBS and received this error (see attached).

The model is approximately 1.6 million SF, but pretty barebones at 100 mb. The workstation that attempted the export is the strongest in the office - a Quad-Core Xeon @ 2.0 ghz and 4 gb RAM. I am running Windows XP 32-bit and RMEP 2009, WU3.

    Thanks in advance.

Just guessing, but I would expect a gbXML export to be just as RAM intensive as printing and DWG export can be. Next time you export, have Task Manager running, in the Performance tab, and keep an eye on the Memory indicator. If it goes over 3Gb you probably just don't have the memory for the task. You can eek out a little bit more RAM for applications using the /3GB switch, but you may have to tune that a bit using /userva, especially if you have a graphics card with a lot of RAM, as in over 256MB or so. You can find some more info in TS1060353 of the Autodesk Knowledge Base.
Of course the better answer would be 8GB of RAM, Win7 x64 and 64 bit Revit, but that becomes a bigger issue.

    Best of luck,
    Gordon

That was my guess as well. I am running the 3 gb switch on this machine. The computer actually has 8 gb of RAM, but its inaccessible due to the 32-bit OS.

Hmmm, suspect I would be putting Win7 x64 on there pretty soon. You get a lot more out of your graphics card too. MS totally blew the 64 bit upgrade approach, but we are slowly getting there.

I'm guessing the same as everybody else. How big is the gbXML file if you just do a native gbXML Export rather than using the GBS Plug-in?

    Cheers,
