Custom Symbols for Fire Map

I need to create a sheet that shows the floor plan and is annotated with the locations of fire extinguishers, AED's, first aid, etc. Preferably with pictograms or similar symbols. I have attached an image similar to what I am looking to do.
What is the best way to do this in Revit? I am finding it difficult to create custom symbol families with custom colors and hatching. Should I just insert images?
