Thumbs down BUG - Save 2007 DWG format down to 2000 format - Copy, Paste and others stop working

    Hi

I´m using acad2007 but my friends here at work (who are still on acad2002), are experiencing some problems.

I make my drawings and save in a 2000/2002 format, so they can open the drawings too.
Well, they can open, although commands like copy, paste, block, wblock... does not work!

I´m sure that there isn´t no "lock" in my drawings.

And I´m almost sure that this is not a system variable problem neither, because drawings created on their version are just working fine.

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks!

Are you just doing a "Save as 2000"? I have LDD, and it has an "Export to 2000" option - do you have that option?

You might want to try DWG TrueConvert
    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...112&id=7024151

Its free, but I'd be curious to know if products converted by it do the same thing. Mostly I'm trying to figure out if this is being cause by AutoCAD, a verticle, or perhaps they CAN be saved back and you are just running into the same error (whatever that would be). By using a "neutral" software we can eliminate the base file format and focus on your application and what could be contained within the drawing that your application doesn't seem to like...

I have been watching this thread and it seems to have stalled. Are others having this problem and has any one found a fix? Does TrueConvert fix the problem?

We have been facing a similar experience. We have one contractor that we work with that says he can't open my drawings. I have the option set to save as 2000 file for all drawings (soon will be able to save as 2004, wooohoooo). However I can open and save from my 2006 version.

No, true convert will not help.

Since this thread started many things have come to light. Do you use ADT or have ADT 2007 objects? I've seen this error occur when ADT objects are in the drawing.

Try this command in AutoCAD 2007 : -AecExportToAutoCAD
If it IS these objects causing this issue then your exported drawing should work w/ their commands after this.

And I´m not using ADT or ADT2007 objects...

The commands just don´t work, even on new drawings...

Try saving as a 2004 format, and have them install DWGGateway (a free program downloadable at http://www.dwggateway.com ) and have them use that to open the 2004 format files in 2002, it currently doesn't work with 2007 format, I am sure they are working on an update though. This should correct the problem, we have no problems having a mx between 2007 and 2004 in this regaurds.
