    Question Problem with SNAP

I just starting using ADT 2006 and am having some strange problem with snap points. The snap marker keeps disappearing and the snap tooltip does not ever appear. What is more strange is that after the marker flasher on and off I am actually able to snap to the location that was very briefly marked. I tried all the different settings in the drafting options menu and nothing seems to help. Another strange occurrence is that if I use object tracking both the marker and tooltip seem to both work.

Any help on this issue would be great as I and trying to draw a 3D project and it is near impossible without snaps working properly

    -David

Do you have both the ADT.cui and the ACAD.cui loaded simultaneously?

I checked and the ADT.cui is the only main cui file that is loaded.

Is the ACAD.cui file loaded as a partial cui file?

What would be the reason for having ACAD.cui loaded as a partial cui file causing a problem?

I have both loaded and DO get similar snap issues, but i don't understand why this should be the cause?

    Thanks,

I really do not know why, but I do know that I have read many posts by others where that ended up being the culprit. I do not work that way, and others have posted that they do and have no problems.

Pre-CUI, I know that there were issues for some people (including me) with loading the ACAD.mnu as a partial menu when using the ADT.mnu as the main menu. It would appear to be fine, but after closing and reopening ADT, the drawing window would not display, leaving you with a bunch of rather useless palettes. Nothing that a repair installation could not remedy. That was tracked down to an incompatibility between the REFEDIT toolbars in the two menus. I can not say that I really understood why, but stripping out the REFEDIT toolbar from the ACAD menu eliminated the problem. By the time that was published, I had already stripped out the Viewports toolbar, which was the only missing item I really wanted. Eventually I ended up adding the Viewport Control to another toolbar and have not tried to load anything from the ACAD menus since.

With the CUI, you can transfer items from the ACAD.cui file into either the ADT.cui, or into a custom partial CUI, which is what I would recommend.

I will give that a try.

My problems normally revolve around not being able to pick up snaps on mass elements or other ADT objects in 3-d (I have turned off the "replace Z value with current elevation"). It could possibly be due to the third party applications I have running.

    Thanks,
