Interior Elevations w/ Irregular Outlines?

How do I show an interior elevation if the interior of the room is not rectilinear--for example, if the ceiling is sloped? Otherwise the interior elevations just look like sections.

Also, is there a way to make the outline of the elevation a thick line, regardless of what object is being cut?

Currently I have been using the invisible line tool to get rid of undesired lines that remain within the rectangle of the crop region, and then adding Wide drafting lines onto my sheets over the perimeter of the elevation--certainly very low tech.

You'll find a white filled region with a hole it a little faster than the linework tool. Make the pattern of the white filled region "No Pattern" so that it exports cleanly to AutoCAD. The linework of the "hole" can be a bold lineweight.

Here's a Detail Component for the outline & white region. It might save a bit more time, tho' of course it is rectilinear.

Wouldn't a simple solution to this issue be to have the ability to control the crop region line weight? Basically if you could adjust the line weight you could make it a appear with a heavy outline. I've looked up and down in this program and cannot find a way to do this.

The Outline frame may be a patch solution, but is still a pain. With software that is as powerful as Revit the user should not have to spend valuable time on trivial tasks that can more or less be automated.

We use both the linework tool and the filled region method - both really stink. I agree that if they just gave us the ability to change the lineweight of the crop region the problem would be solved. plus the ability to change the shape of the crop region (edit/sketch mode).

I can't believe this has been overlooked for at least 4 years since the issue was brought up. This could be fixed so easily, but just putting crop regions in the object style list and making a sketch feature for adjusting the shape. I personally feel like getting Autodesk on the line.

You should. The development team works in part from formal requests for features made by submitting a "Support Request" from Revit. If you want something, you have to let them know. Calling would be ok, but a support request puts it in writing and makes it accountable.

I put in my suggestions to Autodesk:

There are three things I would like to see done with crop regions.

First, crop regions should be in the visibility settings to be able to adjust the lineweight so that people don't have to outline each individual interior elevation with thick lines like everyone using this program is doing.

Second, crop regions should be able to be modified so they don't have to be rectangular, maybe with a sketch tool for editing them. Right now, people are creating solid white filled regions to blank out areas because the crop region can't be adjusted.

Third, crop regions should be able to be temporarily turned off, so that you can see everything that is in the view, work on it, and then turn it back on. To work on something I pulled off to the side, I have to stretch the crop region out, losing my spot, and then stretch it back to the closest spot I remember it was at. I would like to just temporarily disable it and then enable it.
