    Default XP vs. Vista

Which does ACAD run faster on, XP or Vista? Does Vista offer some benefits for ACAD over XP?

AutoCAD will run faster on XP. On the other hand, Vista will likely have advantages long-term due to hardware/software support and the fact Microsoft will someday stop support for XP before they stop supporting Vista.

Go XP. I had a machine with vista on it and had nothing but problems. Even the 2009 version of Civil 3D cant be installed on a vista machine if i remember right.

We just "upgraded" to Vista 64-bit and are running Civil 3D - it does come in that flavour.

Most issues we're running into are driver related (still).

My old dual core with XP ran faster than the quad core vista 64 bit. Autocad (at this point in time) does not take advantage of multicore technology.

Stick with XP while you can . . .
