Default Announcing Revit Architecture 2010 Service Pack 20090612_2115

Yup, you heard it here 3rd. Sorry, first was my blog. Twitter was second. But AUGI finishes a strong third.

It's not actually out for download, but should be available any minute.
You can read about all of the fixes at my blog. It's a really long list and there's something for everyone.

Looks like a real oops list. Nothing but screwups is listed. This release is a joke. Man, really hoped Adesk wouldn't screw up Revit. Factory - where are you?

Looks like the update won't hit the Autodesk website until July 6th or so.
At least you know it's coming. Hope you don't mind me reporting this early, but I always love being the first with this info. It's hard to stay ahead of Steve Stafford, but I'm trying.

I didnt see anything in the list regarding any actual changes to the ribbon or UI itself. Bummer, whatever work theyre doing must be being held till 2011.

Yes the list is long, the mess is varied.
Overall, it does look like the things that should have been done correctly to begin with before the release was made public are being addressed now - but, have to wait and see.

I am getting gun shy about the 2010 release and am worried that the fix, will be as bad or worse than the release itself. At least the program only crashes infrequently now....

The changes to massing functionality and return of Alt+num pad shortcuts are of particular interest to us. But we've been using the software quite successfully till now regardless of the fixes.

Are the fixes here a help to people? We have so many threads on broken stuff, is this update getting to some of these. It would be nice to see some positive stuff.

It's official. Autodesk is back from vacation, caught up on all their email and got around to posting the Service Pack moments ago.
I'd like to thank Firefox and their reload every minute feature so it would finally show up.
Hope there's something in there for everyone.

LOL -- one bug I reported is still in there -- I have KB shortcuts for creating solid geometry for in place and component families, and if I use one outside an in place family, I can create a form of no category. Something to fix for WU2

Also -- what changes have been made to massing modeling specifically?? That list is as vague as it gets: "Improvements to form creation and editing." So what are they? I can't see any changes from my initial tests... when creating in-place forms, you still have way more freedom if you build the form of regular lines.

And the number one thing I hate about the new massing functionality remains: if you have to delete the massing form because you needed to change its shape and the 2010 tools don't let you do that where 2009's massing tools would have, this means you have to delete walls in your project, and any doors, windows, tags, dimensions... on and on it goes. This is by far the worst feature of 2010 in my estimation.

At least the sketching visibility has improved. That was a ridiculous oversight that was causing me no end of grief. I am a little happier now, just a little.
