Cool Re: Spiral stair solid railing

    Yes-it is possible.

In the railing family, you can replace the pipe rails and balusters
with a custom solid baluster panel. You are essentially making a new railing
style that has no horizontal rails, or vertical "pickets".

There is a Family Template for creation of Baluster Panels. Make a new custom panel
that is solid. Then load into the Project, edit the railing structure under baluster
placement and delete/replace the pipes with the new custom solid panel.

    Does this help?

    cheers.................

You might endup with issues at landing and/or top/bottom though be careful.

the other approach, which i've done before is to make the stringer the height you need it to be. it gives the same effect. just depends what you're really looking to do.

    just a thought.

yeah, just change the thickness to 8"

it won't be an actuall wall but it'll look like one and act the way you want it too.

This might also be possible with baluster panels. I set up a radius Parameter to control a cylendrical extrusion which is trimmed in elevation with a void extrusion. the result is a panel that will follow the curve of the stair.
