Panning with the middle mouse button

I seem to have lost the ability to pan with pressing down the middle wheel button of the mouse.

I had have probelms before when the mouse batteries are low but I have just changed those and I still can't pan with the middle button.

I have recently downloaded the service pack 1, could this be the problem?

Unfortunaltey, as will soon be evident, I am just learning CAD. Althought I can now draw with it fairly compentantly, I still don't really know my way around the background set up stuff.

Where do I find the command MBUTTONPAN so that I can set it to 1

Type it at the command line.

Note MButtonPan is not an actual AutoCAD command, it's a AutoCAD system variable.
