Default Acad.pgp Shortcuts with Scandinavian letters å ä ö not recognized by AutoCAD

    Hi,

I got a new laptop. Installed AutoCAD Civil3D 2019. In acad.pgp I have following shortcuts:

    Å, *ISOLATEOBJECTS
    Ö, *HIDEOBJECTS
    Ä, *UNISOLATEOBJECTS

All the other shortcuts work, but these above are ignored. They are not recognized. Any idea, where the problem might be?

I have used acad.pgp custom - defined shortcuts for years with no problem.

Solution found: When saving Your acad.pgp with Notepad, use ANSI - encoding. I had it UTF-8. After saving it with ANSI-encoding, it works fine.

Not that I will ever use Scandinavian characters in my pgp file, thanks for posting the solution!

Update: After upgrading to Windows 11, I noticed that AutoCAD’s acad.pgp file, when saved as a txt file using Notepad, was being automatically converted from ANSI to UTF-8. This caused Scandinavian characters (å, ä, ö) in my command shortcuts again to become unrecognized by AutoCAD. Here’s how I resolved it:

I downloaded the portable version of Notepad++ (no admin rights needed) from its official site and used it to open and edit acad.pgp. I manually re-added the missing å, ä, and ö characters, then saved the file explicitly in ANSI encoding. After running the REINIT command in AutoCAD to update the .pgp file, my shortcuts with Scandinavian letters worked perfectly again.

For anyone facing similar issues, ensure you save in ANSI encoding using a tool like Notepad++ and reapply the changes in AutoCAD with REINIT. Works again!
